Vision Statement

Our goal is to build a movie recommend system based on user study and searching algorithms, the basic purpose of which is to give a list of movies that recommended by the system. The recommendations are based on the rankings and reviews given by users. First, we find a group of users (which we call “Similar Users”) that have similar preferences in the same categories. Then we try to find the most popular movies via mining/rank aggregating the rankings given by those “Similar Users”. We aim to create a stable, usable and heuristic system, and to enable users to communicate with each other while the friends can be recommended automatically by our system.
